Virtual Sessions (First-Year Students)

Time, Location, & Staff Information:

Prior to Orientation:

  • Review the BEFORE orientation information.
  • Think about any Fall scheduling information that you will need to share with an advisor. Are you taking part in any special programs that will affect your schedule? Here are some examples:
    • UConn Marching Band
    • Learning communities
    • Engineering’s BRIDGE program
    • ROTC
    • UConn Athletic team
    • Honors Program

During the Advising Session:

  • Discuss course placement and fall scheduling with an advisor through WebEx.

After the Advising Session:

  • You will receive a Fall schedule in Student Admin within 48 hours of your Orientation session. You will be unable to make changes until July.
  • Complete any of the “Before Orientation” steps you may have missed, including placement exams.
  • Send senior-year AP scores when available in July.

Changes to your schedule…

  • If you need to change your fall schedule, attend virtual drop-in hours with your assigned advisor (schedule below). You will have through the first two weeks of the semester (the add/drop period) to change your schedule, if necessary.
  • DO NOT make any unnecessary changes to your schedule. Changes to your schedule should only be made for
    • new AP scores
    • if you prefer to change your Gen Ed/ENGL or UNIV course
    • if you have become aware of a new scheduling conflict
  • Course seating is limited. If you drop a core course (MATH, CSE, lab science), you may not be able to take that course in the fall. This may affect your academic progress toward graduation.
  • Changes based on time preference are not permitted.

AFTER Orientation

Congratulations!  You are one step closer to beginning your journey here at UConn.  Please refer to the post-orientation information and student FAQ page for more information on what you can expect moving forward.
